In-the-hoop Journal Cover Quilted Flower – $8.50

This in-the-hoop project is for 5×7 journals commonly found in the US in stores like Office Depot, K-Mart, Walmart, etc. The cover comfortably holds a 5×6.75 (up to 7”) x 3/4” inch journal and can be made in 5×7 hoops or larger. Please make sure that the journal measurements do not exceed these measurements. You will find that journal refills for 5×7 journals sold at places like Barnes and Noble as well as Office Depot fit this cover as well and would be a less expensive alternative to the full 5×7 journal. This journal cover consists of a one colored modern flower design. The front and back (not the pocket) are quilted as part of the in the hoop embroidery process. The cover has a back pocket for a small calculator (or sticky pad) as well as two narrow pockets for a pen and highlighter. It also features an elastic strap that holds the journal shut when not in use.

You may stitch out the center of the flower or leave off the embroidered center and use a button and ribbon to hold the button down instead. Also included are ¾” monogram initials. Instructions for the covered elastic are part of your download. This cover is done in 3 hoopings in 5×7 hoops:

You will construct the front first, then the back with pocket, and then in the last hooping you will combine the two parts by stitching a cover spine. It is not hard to do. Just follow the instructions listed in the enclosed pdf document carefully. Lots of photos are part of the instructions.
