This is an in the hoop project for the 5×7 hoops or larger.  It is done in one hooping and only requires a small amount of handstitching for the closure of the pillow.

What a perfect little pillow for your little future football star.

In Preparation:

You will need:

• 2 approximately 7×9” pieces of fabric for the pillow
• 2 approximately 7×9” pieces of medium weight interfacing
• 1 approximately 12” piece of ribbon
• scotch tape
• a small piece of fabric for appliqueing  the little boy’s “pillow”

(I chose fabric with little stars on it)

I interface my main pillow fabric pieces – it’s not necessary – but I find that I get a more professional looking result.

I use medium weight tearaway stabilizer.  I only hoop the stabilizer and apply temporary adhesive to the back of the pillow fabric.  Then attach the fabric to the stabilizer with pins running along the inside perimeter of the frame.  The first color stitchout is an outline frame of the pillow.  After that stitches you could remove the pins, if you are worried the machine might hit them.  -  And, of course, you could hoop the stabilizer and fabric together and not worry about any pins as well! J

Football Season is upon us and we at Oma’s Place have a great new set for your little Buckeyes, Cowboys and Aggies in training. There are a total of 16 designs, part applique, part fill designs. Put them on blankets, diapere bags, totes, pillows, shirts.   How about making a little gym bag for the future football player and put some of these designs on the sides and pockets. Fill the bag with a sippy cup (with embroidered insert, of course), Nerf type football, or make him a soft cube/block with some of these designs on the sides. Include a bib or two, as well . And don’t forget to make a matching stadium blanket and sweatshirts for Dad!

There are 11 applique jersey designs (number 1-10 and a blank one), an applique label to fit the “tummy” area of the pancake bear (available from www.allaboutblanks.com) or other similar “stuffed” animals, a “rookie” label for you to insert the name and the date of the birth or a child’s name, a sports shoe with cleats, a football, and a helmet design. The applique jerseys are for the 5×7 hoops, all other designs fit the 4×4 hoops.

This set consists of a total of 15 designs – 10 applique little jerseys, 1 small applique label, and 5 complementing fill designs.

The applique “jerseys” were digitized to be placed on a newborn’s blanket. The number on the jersey was meant to be the number child – for example our daughter is going to have her 4th child soon – so I took jersey number 4 and placed the child’s last name over the number 4. Of course, the little jersey could be used without any numbers and just the child’s name added, if you wish.

The applique label was designed to be placed on small “cuddle toys” – such as bears – or in the corner of snuggle blankets. The applique designs’ first color stitchout flattens velour or other plush fabric but you may skip the first color if you are not using high pile fabric. The applique jersey design would also look great on towels. Place the complementing designs in the towel border for a special effect.
